  • What is the All-Stars of Music Program?
The All-Stars of Music Program is a premier educational and performance experience for middle and high school musicians. Students from across the state are nominated to participate in world-class ensembles led by top educators and conductors, culminating in an unforgettable travel and performance tour.
  • Who is eligible for the All-Stars of Music Program?
Participation is by nomination or invitation only. Music educators can nominate their outstanding students, and students will be selected based on their musical abilities and commitment. Students who have finished grades 6-8 (plus exceptional musicians finishing grade 5) at the time of the trip will participate in the Junior All-Stars tour. Students who have finished grades 9-12 at the time of the trip will participate in the Senior All-Stars tour.
  • What makes this program different from other music opportunities?
All-Stars combines high-level musical instruction with cultural immersion and travel. Students have the opportunity to learn under the direction of notable conductors in an experience not offered elsewhere. It’s about creating lifelong memories and meaningful connections with talented musicians from across the state and beyond.
  • What are the key points that set the All-Stars of Music Program and Guardian Travel Group apart?
This is a unique program and currently there are no travel opportunities for middle school aged students like this in existence. Guardian works will local staff to assist in all areas of our trips and runs every aspect of the trip themselves instead of working with a 3rd party destination management company. This allows them to control every aspect of the trip and guarantee that all vendors and trip elements are up to our standards.
  • Is this trip accessible for those with mobile disabilities?
Yes! We can have accessible buses if needed as well as accessible hotel rooms. Please let us know at registration if this is required for your participation. There are some potential optional elements of the trip excursions that could be more challenging, however, when accommodations are available, we will ensure they are properly communicated and requested.
  • Will the performances on tour or during pre-tour camp be live-streamed?
Unfortunately, no, they will not be live-streamed due to copyright law.
  • Senior Program Only: Will travelers need a passport? What do you recommend for payment options while in Europe?
Passports and Visitor Visas will be required. Passports need to be valid at least 6 months post-trip date. As far as payment options, we recommend a combination of cash and credit/debit. Many credit cards and debit cards waive international fees. Check with your financial institution for confirmation. We highly recommend bringing a Visa as it is the most widely accepted credit card worldwide. For those bringing cash, please exchange at your US bank as the airport exchange rates are more costly.
  • How do I get nominated to join the program?
Speak with your band, choir, or orchestra director about being nominated, OR fill out this self-nomination form. Directors look for dedicated, skilled musicians who are ready for a challenge.
  • What can I expect during the tour?
The tour includes rehearsals, performances in iconic venues, and exciting sightseeing activities. Whether it's performing at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii or exploring historic landmarks in Europe, every moment is designed to inspire and excite. For a more detailed overview, check out our Junior Program page or our Senior Program page.
  • Do I need to audition to participate?
No audition is required to participate! Some programs require you to submit a recording to determine ensemble placements. Your director or the All-Stars team will provide details if this applies to you.
  • Can I be a part of more than one music ensemble?
To ensure the best experience, students participate in just one ensemble. Being in multiple groups can make the schedule feel rushed and limit time for other amazing tour activities. Focusing on one ensemble allows you to fully enjoy rehearsals, performances, and the overall All-Stars journey!
  • Are their additional rehearsals outside of the pre-departure camp? When would I get the music?
There will be 1 rehearsal in the spring on a Saturday, in April of the same year of the trip. Location and date will be shared closer to that time. Additionally, there will be two zoom check ins for students to meet with a music teacher 1 on 1 and make sure they are on track for learning their music. Students will sign up for these 1 on 1 sessions and choose from multiple weekends that are offered as options for dates/times. Music will be provided at least 2 months prior to the spring rehearsal.
  • Will students need to bring their own instruments on trip?
Yes. Most instruments should travel as the student's carry-on item. Some of the larger instruments will be rented in Hawai'i (TBD on which instruments). Percussion instruments will be provided in Hawai'i, however, students are responsible for bringing their own sticks and mallets.
  • How is my child’s safety ensured during the tour?
Safety is our top priority. All travel arrangements are handled by Guardian Travel Group, which includes trip protection plans, background-checked staff, and local guides. We maintain a low staff-to-student ratio to ensure close supervision.
  • What is the teacher to student ratio?
We are committed to a 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio on All-Stars tours.
  • Will I be able to join my young musician on the tour?
Absolutely! Parent, Guardians, and families are welcome to travel as part of the program. There are separate registration options for family travelers, which include many of the same activities and accommodations.
  • Can students room with their family/guardian?
Yes! Students will have the option to room with family/guardian or to room with other All-Star student musicians depending on their preference.
  • Do families who register for the family package get the same inclusions as the student performers?
Yes. The family package includes the same itinerary, meals, hotels, flights, as the students.
  • What’s included in the program cost?
The cost typically includes flights, accommodations, most meals, guided sightseeing tours, rehearsals, performances, and on-tour transportation. Optional extensions and some meals may require additional payment.
  • Is there a payment plan available?
Yes! Guardian asks for the initial deposit by June 1 one year prior to your trip. Monthly payments will then begin 2 months later on August 1. The final payment will be May 1 the same year of the tour. By beginning the registration, you will be able to see how much it would cost per month depending on the package chosen. For example, if your trip takes place in July of 2026... Your registration and initial deposit would be due by June 1, 2025. Monthly payments would begin August 1, 2025, and your final payment would be May 1, 2026.
  • Are their fundraising opportunities?
Yes! Guardian provides fundraising internally making it easier for all students to participate. Fundraising, through Guardian, will get started after registrations are in.
  • What trip insurance is available? Is it included in the pricing?
Post-Departure Insurance is included in every purchase. The Trip Protection Plan is an additional cost and provides trip refunds in case of cancellation.
  • Will band, choir, and orchestra students travel together? Will families travel together?
Whenever possible, we will keep families and ensembles together. However, there may be times during the tour that we would be in smaller groups depending on the activity or excursion.
  • What if we would like to extend our trip as a family vacation?
You are welcome to do that! In this instance, you would opt to book your own flights and arranging your own transportation to and from the airports. Guardian will discount your package to reflect you booking your own flights and you will be responsible for any additional travel needs.
  • How do I register?
Once nominated, you’ll receive a registration link with instructions. Parents or guardians will complete the process online, and all deadlines will be clearly communicated.
  • What is the refund policy if plans change?
Refund policies vary depending on timing and circumstances. Our trip protection plans provide additional security for unexpected changes.
  • How are travel logistics like flights and hotels managed?

  • How do I stay updated on program announcements?
