Our ASOM staff prides itself on the conductors hired to work with the finest young musicians in your area. Collegiate conductors from the State of Wisconsin will be working with our All-Stars students. We are excited to announce our 2026 conductors!

Dr. Corey Pompey
Band Conductor
Dr. Corey Pompey serves as Associate Director of Bands and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He succeeded longtime director Mike Leckrone in 2019. His duties include leading the athletic band program, conducting the concert band, and teaching conducting. Before UW-Madison, Dr. Pompey was assistant professor of music, associate director of bands/director of athletic bands at the University of Nevada-Reno. Prior, he served as the assistant director of bands at Pennsylvania State University, where he assisted with the Penn State Marching Blue Band and Athletic Bands, conducted the Concert Band, taught undergraduate conducting, and assisted with student teacher supervision. Dr. Pompey also served as an assistant instructor with University Bands at The University of Texas at Austin. He was involved in all creative and administrative aspects of the program, some of which include The University of Texas Wind Ensemble and The Longhorn Band. Dr. Pompey taught in the public schools of Alabama for seven years prior to moving to Texas. Dr. Pompey holds the bachelor of science degree in music education and the master of arts degree in music education from The University of Alabama. He earned his doctor of musical arts degree in wind conducting at The University of Texas. Principal conducting teachers include Jerry F. Junkin, Kenneth Ozzello, and Gerald L. Welker. Professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, the Big Ten Band Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha, and Kappa Kappa Psi.

Dr. Maggie Burk
Choir Conductor
Dr. Margaret (Maggie) Burk is a conductor, composer, and vocalist committed to the transformative power of choral music. A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Burk is currently assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where she oversees a robust program of four choral ensembles, serves as artistic director for the Carthage Christmas Festival, and teaches coursework in choral conducting and literature. In demand as a clinician throughout the country, she has recently led All-State and District honor choirs as well as church music festivals in Virginia, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. In addition to her conducting work, Burk is an active composer and professional chorister. Her music is published by Oxford University Press, Hal Leonard, Selah Music Publishing, and MorningStar Music, and has been featured on BBC Radio 3 evensongs. Her setting of “Set Me as a Seal” (Hal Leonard) was performed by the National High School Honor Choir at the 2023 American Choral Directors’ Association National Conference in Cincinnati, OH (Eugene Rogers, conductor); recently, her setting of the carol “What Cheer?” was included in Oxford’s seminal publication Carols for Choirs 6. She sings with professional choral ensembles throughout the country, recently, appearing with the Yale Choral Artists (New Haven, CT), the New Earth Ensemble (Chicago), Musica Atlantica (Savannah, GA), and Audivi (Detroit, MI). Burk holds degrees from the University of Michigan (D.M.A.), Yale University (M.M.), and St. Olaf College (B.M.). Prior to her graduate studies, she taught public school choral music in Sartell, Minnesota, and Lawrence, Kansas. When she’s not working, Burk is an avid home cook, runner, and CrossFitter. She is the proud mom of rescue cats Leo (15) and Wilma (1).

Dr. Andres Moran
Orchestra Conductor
Dr. Andres Moran is the Music Director of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and serves as Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Since arriving in Central Wisconsin in 2016, Moran has quickly established himself as a versatile conductor, having guest conducted the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra and Waupaca BachFest. Passionate in his work with young musicians, Moran conducts the Fox Valley Youth Symphony and has served as conductor for the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, the Music in the Mountains Festival in Durango, Colorado, and the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp. In March 2015, the Detroit Symphony invited Moran to guest conduct DSO’s Civic Youth Orchestra in an all-Russian program during the orchestra’s Tchaikovsky Festival. From 2009 to 2016, Moran was the Resident Conductor of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and the Music Director and General Manager of the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras. Moran holds degrees from Indiana University (Doctorate of Music, Instrumental Conducting), Southern Methodist University (Master of Music, Orchestral Conducting and Horn Performance), and New Mexico State University (Bachelor of Music Education). Moran’s principal conducting teachers are David Effron, Arthur Fagen, and Paul C. Phillips. An accomplished horn player, Moran is the principal horn of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, Brevard Music Center Orchestra, and the Sarasota Music Festival. In 1999 and 2000, Moran was selected as a finalist in the International Horn Society’s Solo Horn Competition. His horn instructors include Nancy Joy, Gregory Hustis, and Myron Bloom.
