Dear Future All-Stars,

On behalf of the entire Junior All Stars educational team, I want to welcome you. You have shown exceptional promise as a young musician.  As a member of the band, choir, or orchestra, you will perform for audiences in Hawai'i as we experience the best of the island of Oahu. You will be in the capable hands of three of the finest conductors our state has to offer, alongside a coordination team of dedicated music educators from around Michigan. We are excited to have you join us on this unforgettable adventure!

Our ASOM staff prides itself on the conductors hired to work with the finest young musicians in your area. These conductors from the state of Texas from will be working with our All-Stars students. We are excited to announce our 2027 conductors!

Carol Brittin Chambers

Band Conductor

Carol Brittin Chambers is currently the composer and owner of Aspenwood Music, aspenwoodmusic.com, and a highly sought-after conductor and clinician. She lives in San Antonio, Texas, where she is also on the music faculty at Texas Lutheran University, teaching composition and serving as Composer in Residence. Chambers is commissioned each year to compose and arrange works for concert band, marching band, orchestra, and various other ensembles. Her concert works have been selected to the J.W. Pepper Editor’s Choice List and the Bandworld Top 100 and have been performed at state educator conferences across the country, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and other international events. She was named the winner of the 2019 WBDI (Women Band Directors International) Composition Competition and also served as the 2025 TBA Texas Bandmasters Association Featured Composer. She has arranged and orchestrated marching shows for multitudes of high school bands nationwide, as well as The Crossmen Drum Corps. Chambers travels coast-to-coast conducting music ensembles of all ability levels and ages, and she has now joined the Conn Selmer Educational Team as an Educational Clinician. At Texas Lutheran University, in addition to composition, Chambers has taught a variety of music education courses, including Band and Brass Methods, Orchestration, Music Technology, Ear Training and Sight Singing, and Trumpet lessons, to name a few. Before teaching at TLU, Chambers taught middle school and high school band for many years in the North East Independent School District, San Antonio, TX. She also taught private lessons in NEISD. Chambers received a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Music Education from Texas Tech University. She studied under Vincent Cichowicz, Will Strieder, John Paynter, Arnold Jacobs, James Sudduth, and Pat Anthony.

Dr. William Owens

Orchestra Conductor

A native of Gary, Indiana, William Owens, DMus (b. 1963), is a highly sought-after composer, clinician, and conductor throughout North America. Renowned for his practical and expressive compositional style, Dr. Owens has firmly established himself as a leading voice in the field. His catalog includes more than 500 works for concert band, string orchestra, and jazz ensemble, many of which appear on required music lists nationally and abroad. Many of his works have been analyzed in educational text, and have become staples of the wind band repertoire. Active as a composer since 1993, Owens’ works have received widespread acclaim. Principal commissions include those from the South Plains College (TX) Department of Fine Arts, Phi Beta Mu International, and the American Bandmasters Association. A 1985 graduate of Chicago’s VanderCook College of Music, he is honored in the VCM Gallery of Distinguished Alumni. His accolades include the Meritorious Achievement Award from the Texas Bandmasters Association and the Doctor of Music Education Honoris Causa from his alma mater. Dr. Owens holds professional memberships with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB). In 2014, William retired from his career as a band director in Texas after 30 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoys sight-seeing and is a proud Chevrolet Corvette owner/enthusiast. William resides in Fort Worth, TX with his wife and best friend, Georgia.
